I had the worst day at work
For 6.5 years now I have worked at a government facility for a supervisor that loves to talk trash about anyone of color (including Native Americans). He says that as an American it is his right to Free Speech. He went to a presentation dinner attended by mayors of local cities, Chief's of police, and local dignitaries, not long after President Obama was elected and everyone was abuzz at the news of an African-American President being elected. When asked how he felt about the new president his response was "I think everyone should own one!" (as in, a black person...). 2 days later he had to attend Sensitivity Training'. We had a Japanese girl working for us part-time for over a year while she attended school. He constantly talked in front of her about going home and playing his new video game of WW2 and killing a bunch of "Japs". I mentioned once that my husband is 1/4 Cherokee and he said that "I call Indians, 'Knuckle Dragging Ground Apes". A month ago he wanted to share with me his 'new favorite song' he put on his cell phone. He was in his office, at work, in a government building and he was playing out loud 'I hate Niggers' on his cell phone! He asked me "Is that cool or what?"I was concerned that the public might hear it being his office is near the front desk. He was oblivious. This kind of behavior is constant. My coworkers say to ignore it and everyone else seems to think its no big deal! He was recently laid off from his position and has chosen to demote to my classification. Tomorrow I start working side-by-side with him!!!
