I got a paperdoll

A friend recently thought to give me paperdolls. To answer your question, no, I don't collect paperdolls, nor have I ever talked about how fun paperdolls were/are. Her thoughts were it would be fun to spend an afternoon cutting out and playing with paperdolls. Not sure this would qualify as a dumb gift, but it did bring to mind other dumb gifts I've seen given to people, as well as myself, over the years. One year my mother gave me a dress pattern and material, including thread. I hate sewing, and that's an UNDERstatement. My mother KNEW this, but gave me the material, pattern and thread anyway.
