I should have known better. Have you ever heard when it sounds "TO GOOD TO BE TRUE "---- IT USUALLY IS ? Well, thats what happened to me. I saw a YELLOW PAGE add -- it read as follows ---FREE tow --- with car repair. Great, so I called Amco Transmition on Hwy 11 in Greenville NC. A man named Tom anwsered the phone and said that they would TOW my car --EL CHEAPO. Well after I got there he told me he would need a $100 DEPOSIT FOR THE TOW AND DIONOSTICS CHECK---AND THIS WOULD BE PUT TOWARDS THE REPAIR BILL. I asked him why this was not written down in the yellow pages add and he had no reply. This should be considerd FALSE advertising. I have a 1989 Toyota Corrola GTS. I was not able to get the motor to turn over. It was like the car wanted to start but wasn"t getting enough gas. The first thing I thought was they would check the battery, alternater and starter. I solved the battery problem by buying a new battery from WAL MART. The starter seemed to be working fine. I mean it was firing. Long story short, I called TOM and he said they had put the car on dionostics and that the STARTER IGNITION MODULE had gone bad. He said that the part would be AROUND $179 and labor would run almost $379. I almost passed out. So by me trying to save money on a tow I was left with a $400 dollar payment CASH in order to get my car back. BUSTED!!! I had been ripped off. WHY ? Because 3 days after paying this crasy bill --GUESS WHAT? YEAH -- MY CAR JUST COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN.First the radio, then the heater, then the lights started getting dimmer and dimmer. Out in the middle of no where. ___STRANDED!! I took it elsewhere and found out it was my ALTERNATER ---ALL ALONG. Paid $160 and $50 labor and my car is running like a top. I asked Tom it he could give my OLD starter ignitiom module and he came back and sais they couldn"t find it. Of course they couldn"t --because--THEY NEVER PUT ONE ON MY CAR. I am in the process of trying to get my money back because of this CON MAN. Any ideas--besides the BBB?? ANY HELP would be apreciated. jim
