an aspiring young fashion designer's chinese class nightmare

i live in china, and i go to chinese class every saturday to improve my chinese. of course, all my other classmates were chinese, and we're all 16. i guess i'm used to looking older than everyone else cuz chinese teenagers dress really, um , little, like little kids, but i don't really mind looking more mature than them. i want to become a clothing designer when i grow up anyway, and sometimes i wear different and creative stuff and people really like it. so the situation today was that i have to make an appearance and give a speech at an english competition tomorrow and was planning to wear a dress that i really loved, so i decided to wear it to my chinese class first to see the outcome. it was neutral with pale brown florals, and i didn't think wearing a dress was that bad. BUT hell it was totally horrible! not that the dress was ugly, but all the other chinese kids were in tshirts and shorts (we're 16) and there i was sitting among them in a brown floral dress looking older than anyone else. i was so embarrassed. AND they so didn't accept me. a guy from the nearby table whom i thought was really nice even told a girl that i looked so ugly, and he called me names. i can't believe what has happened!
