For as long as I can remember, I've kept my alarm clock under my bed, so I have to lean right over to turn it off, which seems to have a better chance of waking me up, instead of me falling straight back into sleep again. One morning I must have been sleeping in a strange position, as when the alarm went off, I swung myself over to turn it off, and SMASHED my head into the corner of my wooden bedside table! It was still dark but I could feel the blood all over my face, and started screaming, 'my eye! my eye!' as I thought I'd poked my eye out. After I cleaned all the blood off my face, it turned out to just be a cut above one of my eyes, but I still had to call into work that morning to say, 'sorry, can't come in - I cut my head on my bedside table and have to go to hospital to get stitches'. I wonder if they believed me?
